There’s Still Time To Win A Seat To The WSOP Main Event
Only three of the five poker rooms in Atlantic City are currently open, and neither offers any tournaments at this time. What a bummer! But you can play poker tournaments online and maybe even parlay this activity into an opportunity to participate in the biggest and most prestigious poker competition of all–the WSOP Main Event!
When and where will the WSOP Main Event take place?
The 52nd Annual World Series of Poker will take place at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas from Thurs., Sept. 30, 2021 through Wed. Nov. 23, 2021. During that time, players can choose from no less than 88 bracelet events. But the one that will command worldwide attention is the Main Event. The first day of play for all entrants will be Nov. 4, 5, 6, or 7. All surviving players will then advance to the second day of play on Nov. 8 or 9, and so on.
Play will continue on the scheduled days and times until the field gets whittled down to nine players. Those individuals will comprise the final table, which will begin play on Tues., Nov. 16.
As in 2019, a huge turnout is expected
Due to the pandemic, the WSOP had to be canceled in 2020, so the last time the tournament was held was in 2019. So, naturally, after an absence of 26 months, eagerness to get the 2021 tournaments started is very high.
The 2019 WSOP set records for both participation (187,298 entries) and prizes ($293,183,345). The 2019 Main Event alone attracted 8,569 players (the largest field since 2006), a prize pool of $80,548,600, and a top prize of $10 million.
Other notable results in 2019 included, for the first time ever, 62 events with a prize pool over $1 million and 12 events with a prize pool over $5 million, as well as 12 events with more than 5,000 entrants representing more than 100 countries.
But 2021 could be the year when brand new records are set.
In anticipation of the high level of demand, CBS Sports will televise 18 of the 82 bracelet events, including a minimum of 15 hours of coverage of the Main Event.
Eligibility requirements and how to register for the 2021 WSOP
In order to attend any of the 2021 WSOP events, either as a participant or as a spectator, you must be at least 21 years old and present proof of having been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 at least 14 days prior to playing. Negative test results in lieu of vaccination and requests for exemption from the vaccination requirement for any reason will not be accepted, and no exceptions will be considered.
In addition, anyone who has had a positive COVID-19 test, or has been placed on quarantine restrictions within 14 days of the tournament, or who has experienced symptoms associated with the virus within the past 48 hours cannot attend.
Players may register and pay for the specific events that interest them either in advance online or on their mobile device or in-person at the Rio Convention Center 24/7 starting 9 a.m. Thurs., Sept. 30 until the start of the last event on Nov. 23.
For your convenience, a complete list of all of the scheduled WSOP events with the day, starting time, and entry fee is provided here.
Accommodations in Las Vegas
Participants in any of the 2021 WSOP events can reserve hotel accommodations at the Rio or any other Caesars Entertainment property in the area for a special discounted rate, subject to availability.
If you can’t afford the entry fee, what other options do you have?
None of the WSOP events are cheap. Buy-ins range from $400 all the way up to $25,000. The WSOP Main event carries a $10,000 price tag.
However, many players who otherwise wouldn’t be able to afford the WSOP at all manage to secure a seat via the satellite route. We recommend that you visit the WSOP.com website for more information about satellites for the WSOP bracelet event of your choice.
Or even better, if you’re a registered player on the NJ gambling website WSOP.com and have your sights set on the WSOP Main Event, you might even win a free seat!
Start by logging into your account and entering the code MYSEAT2021 to receive $50 in free play.
Then take advantage of either or both of these ways to earn entries for the Sept. 29th and Oct. 7th drawings for free Main Event seats.
- Earn one entry for every 10 APPs you earn in cash games.
- Play in 10 BLAST games to earn one entry.
The entry earning period for the Sept. 29th drawing runs from now through Sept. 28. The entry earning period for the Oct. 7th drawing runs from Sept. 29 through Oct. 5.
The bottom line
If you would like to play in this year’s WSOP Main Event and/or any of the other exciting bracelet events, time is of the essence. Also, given that the entry fees are sky-high, I strongly recommend that you attempt to get the cost down, any way you can, either via a satellite or by winning a free seat outright in a drawing.
It’s still a longshot, but it’s worth a try. And if doesn’t work, you should still view it as a positive outcome and not a negative outcome. You can still enjoy all of the highlights of the thrilling action on TV at no cost at all and pick up some valuable pointers along the way that will improve your game significantly. Then, next year, you can think about putting your newly acquired skills to the test where they can really pay off–in the 2022 WSOP Main Event!
Gambling News Flash – Interstate Online Poker Now Legal & DK Breaks Record
This week’s casino news starts us off in the NJ gambling website’s poker realm. Interstate poker could be coming to a place near you, which is a big win for the player.
Interstate Online Poker Legal? YUP
It has been a very long journey for online poker to cross interstate lines but it seems that the day they’ve been working for is right around the corner. The U.S. Department of Justice was unable to appeal the long-standing lawsuit against the New Hampshire Lottery, which basically legalizes interstate online poker. Originally, the DOJ had filed this lawsuit because they felt that any type of interstate gambling was illegal and the group was fighting very hard to keep it that way.
States have slowly been allowing interstate online poker over the years, with Delaware and Nevada legalizing it back in 2014. New Jersey hopped onto that trend just a few years later. However, the only licensed website in all three of those states is WSOP.com as other companies like PokerStars are yet to be licensed across those three areas.
Now that the ongoing legal battle is coming to an end, the expansion of online poker is a serious possibility in Michigan. There has already been some legislation making the rounds that would allow interstate online player pools, which improves the chances that we see everything start to come together.
What this means for players is bigger tournaments and bigger prize pools. For example, in New Jersey, instead of only playing against players in the Garden State, they can now engage in tournaments with players from multiple states. More players involved in each event means bigger tournament guarantees and bigger prize pools. In the end, this is great news for customers.
DraftKings On Track To Top Their Second Quarter Revenue Estimates
The second quarter of 2021 has ended and we’re seeing a lot of various revenue numbers reported. For DraftKingsSportsbook, the final tally ended up being more successful than were imagining. There have been reports stating that the massive sportsbook operator is on track to top their current estimates for revenue in the second quarter, which is April through June.
Some analysts had believed that DraftKings would fall nearly 23 percent during this quarter mostly because there, of course, was no NFL action. However, the NBA was in their postseason as was the NHL, and as a result, DraftKings only dipped 11 percent through that time. Proving the estimations wrong is big on Wall Street and should help their stock.
DraftKings has quite a large reach in the United States as they operate in a number of different states. They have online sports betting in New Jersey, New Hampshire, Tennessee, West Virginia, Virginia and Colorado, among many other states. They are also functioning in Iowa, Michigan, Indiana, Illinois and Pennsylvania. DraftKings doesn’t seem to be too worried about revenue dips at the moment despite the dog days of summer coming up.
Caesars Entertainment Holds Onto Horseshoe Hammond
Caesars Entertainment has been hit pretty hard in Indiana, as the Indiana Gaming Commission was requiring the company to sell a third casino inside the state. That’s because of their merger with El Dorado as the industry is trying to prevent a monopoly.
It appears that the burden was eased a little bit as Caesars will reportedly be holding onto Horseshoe Hammond alongside Harrah’s Hoosier Park. Caesars also owns three different off-track gambling spots in the state and they will not have to let go of those either.
Tom Reeg, the CEO of Caesars Entertainment, talked about how much potential Horseshoe Hammond has in the state and that it would be in their best interest to keep it. In the end, they got their wish.
Caesars has been making a flurry of moves so far in 2021. They are expected to lock down the sale of Caesars Southern Indiana later in the year and have already closed in on Tropicana Evansville.

What WSOP.com players love about Sundays

Sundays are always one of the most popular times to play not only because most of you have the day off from work, but also because of the standout tournament schedule.
For those with deep pockets, the highlight of the day is a $100K guaranteed tournament that gets underway at 6 p.m. But players who can’t afford the $320 price tag don’t have to sit on the sidelines. They can try to win their way in via freerolls and satellites or otherwise compete in a much less expensive tournament. No one who wants to play is shut out.
What’s different about this Last Sunday of the Month WSOP.com Summer Sizzle
On August 30, to celebrate the last Sunday of the month, WSOP.com will replace the 6 p.m. $100,000 guaranteed tournament with the Summer Sizzle. The buy-in is $320, just like it is for the $100,000 guaranteed tournaments on other Sundays. However, this time, the guaranteed prize pool will be doubled to $200,000!

Two New Easy-To-Play Online Casino Poker Games You’ll Go Wild For
Not only now while Atlantic City casinos remain temporarily closed but previously when they were open, you could always count on NJ online casinos to serve you. Slots, online casino poker, other table games like blackjack and roulette, and even live dealer games are all available in many varieties.
But no matter how many hundreds of games your NJ gambling website offers, there is always room for more. If casino poker is one of the games you enjoy playing, you’ll be especially happy to know that SG Digital has just introduced two brand new online casino poker games:
- Texas Hold’em Plus
- DJ Wild Poker
Both games are easy enough for beginners to follow, but seasoned poker players will also enjoy them. And the betting range is wide enough to fit the bankroll and gambling preferences of anyone from casual low stakes players who wish to bet less than a dollar to high rollers.
Which NJ online casinos offer Texas Hold’em Plus and DJ Wild Poker?
Since both games are new releases, other NJ online casinos that don’t offer them as yet might do so down the road, especially if customers show a big interest. Meanwhile, the following NJ online casinos offer both Texas Hold’em Plus and DJ Wild Poker:
Or you can play DJ Wild Poker but not the latest version of Casino Hold’em called Texas Hold’em Plus at all of the following NJ online casinos:
How to play the online casino poker game Texas Hold’em Plus
Texas Hold’em Plus basics
If you’re a fan of traditional Texas Hold’em, you will have no problem at all learning the fundamentals of Texas Hold’em Plus since it’s essentially the same game. Even if you’ve never played Hold’em before, you’ll catch on quickly to this version of the game.
Texas Hold’em Plus is a fast-paced game. It gives you the chance to test your poker luck and skills without worrying about the opponent players’ hands. Instead, you get to play heads-up against the dealer.
Texas Hold’em Plus has a return to player (RTP) of 97.01 percent.
Minimum and maximum bets
You can play this game either in demo mode or for real money. If you’re new to Texas Hold’em or haven’t played in a while, you might want to try it in demo mode first to get a better feel for the game. However, when you’re ready to play for real money, you can choose from a very wide betting range. The minimum bet is only 10 cents while the maximum is $100 or even higher, depending on where you play. For example, Golden Nugget Online Casino offers a $300 maximum bet.
Types of bets
Ante and side bet
Each hand starts with your placing a mandatory ante bet.
At the same time, if you wish, you can also place an optional Plus side bet. The side bet can be either for the same amount or a different amount. It pays out when your two starting cards are a pair or Ace-King. The highest possible payout is 30:1 for a pair of Aces. But an Ace-King also pays nicely: 25:1 if suited or 16:1 if unsuited. However, a pair of 2s through 10s only pays 3:1.
The outcome of the side bet is decided independently of the main bet. In other words, you can win the side bet but lose the main bet, or vice versa, or you can win or lose both bets.
My advice is to forego the side bet because the house edge is higher than if you simply stick to the basic bets. However, if you want to place the side bet occasionally for fun, I suggest a small wager for a fraction of your ante bet. For example, I tried it once in demo mode with a $5 ante and $1 side bet. I got AK unsuited and bet it all the way to the river. Both the hand and the side bet were winners, for a return of $61 on my $26 investment!
The flop, turn, and river
After you have placed your ante bet (and side bet if desired), you will receive two cards face-up and the dealer will receive two cards face-down. You must then decide whether or not your hand looks good enough to continue with it. If you like your chances, bet 2x the ante to see the flop (the first three community cards). Otherwise, fold your hand. When you fold, you forfeit your ante bet, but it’s often a better option than risking more money on a hand that has very little chance of winning.
Never fold your hand in this game after you see the flop. If you don’t like the flop, you can check and see the turn card (4th community card) for free, and check again to see the river (final community card) for free. However, if you have a good hand, keep betting. If you choose to bet, the cost before the turn and again before the river is the same as your ante bet.
Once all five community cards are on the table, the dealer’s two cards are revealed to determine whose hand is better, yours or the dealer’s.
If your winning hand is a straight or higher, you will be paid 2x your total bet including the ante. However, if your winning hand is ranked lower than a straight, the payout is 2x your bet not counting the ante plus your money back on the ante.
Of course, if you and the dealer have hands of identical value, the result is a push for the entire bet.
How to play the online casino poker game DJ Wild Poker
DJ Wild Poker basics
DJ Wild Poker is a form of stud poker The main difference between stud poker and hold’em is that there are no community cards in stud poker games. Seven-card stud used to be popular in Atlantic City, but it is very hard to find anymore. Maybe this game will be the start of a stud poker comeback in both online and land-based casinos.
DJ Wild Stud Poker is a form of Five-card stud rather than Seven-card stud, and like in Texas Hold’em Plus, there are no other players at the table–just you against the dealer.
Also, while being entertained by a live DJ would make this fun game even more fun, that’s an option you might find in a party pit or outdoors at an Atlantic City casino but not online. The DJ in the game’s title refers to deuces and jokers, both of which are wild!
Each round is played with as 53-card deck with the extra card being a joker.
You can play one, two, or three hands at a time. However, if you can afford it, playing three hands is your best bet because it gives you three chances to get one or more wild cards while the dealer only has a single chance.
DJ Wild Stud Poker has a return to player (RTP) of 94.33 percent.
Minimum and maximum bets
You can play this game either in demo mode or for real money. The minimum bet (to start a hand) is 20 cents, and the maximum (at Golden Nugget Online Casino) is a whopping $1,350.
Types of bets
Prior to receiving your cards, both an ante bet and a blind bet (in the same amount) are mandatory. An additional side bet (in any amount) that you will get trips or better (which happens often thanks to the wild cards) is optional. You can win the side bet even when you lose your main bet (or vice versa).
Next, you will receive five cards face-up while the dealer will receive five cards face-down.
Look at your hand(s) carefully to determine if it’s worth playing or not. You have two options: bet 2x the ante if you wish to play your hand further or fold. If you choose to fold, you will automatically forfeit both the ante and blind bets.
It is important to note that this game can get expensive quickly, so make sure you are adequately capitalized. For example, with $5 ante and blind bets, if you play three hands a time, not counting the optional side bet, you will be risking a minimum of $30 and possibly as much as $60 on every hand. That’s why on hands you have little chance of winning, it’s best to fold and cut your losses rather than risk losing double.
DJ Wild Stud Poker payouts
See the paytable accompanying the game for the ante, blind, and play bets for different types of hands.
Side bets are evaluated separately but pay out more for natural hands of trips or higher than for those that use a wild card.

NJ Online Poker Tournaments – For PA Players
Wanna Play NJ Online Poker? 888Poker Is Open 24/7 & Wants To Give You $20 Free
The AC poker rooms remain closed so, for now, live poker is out. But does that leave the thousands of New Jerseyites who love the game with no place to play? No way! 888Poker NJ online action is nonstop like always!
Three great reasons to play at 888Poker
1. Wide variety of games catering to players of all levels
888Poker in NJ offers a wide enough variety of cash games and tournaments to fit any budget. And players of all levels are welcome, from experienced high stakes players to casual recreational players and even beginners.
2. Earn rewards for every hand you play
Apart from the opportunity every time you play to win extra cash, every real money wager you make counts towards earning extra rewards like freerolls and cashback.
Poker rooms at brick and mortar casinos typically only reward comp dollars and freerolls based on play in cash games, not tournaments. However, 888Poker players earn Reward Points and Status Points for both.
The more you play, the more rewards you receive. However, small players are appreciated and rewarded, too.
3. Single wallet for 888Poker and 888Casino
But wait–there’s another great reason to play at 888PokerNJ. If you enjoy playing online casino games along with poker, 888Casino is just a click away–for easy, convenient, single wallet around the clock one-stop gambling!
Special offers for new players
888Poker is open to NJ players age 21 and older. If that describes you and you and you’re not already registered with 888Poker, what are you waiting for? This NJ gambling website has two special offers exclusively for new players.

- You will receive an email asking you to claim your bonus.

The $20 bonus will be broken down into three components for use as follows:

- $4 in bonus cash to bet at 888Poker and/or 888Casino as you wish.
Additional terms and conditions
Players who claim the bonus from 888Poker are not eligible for another sign-up bonus from the casino.
You have up to seven days to use all three parts of the bonus before they expire.
Additional wagering requirements apply. See the 888Poker website for details.
Welcome Bonus: 100% Deposit Match up to $1,500
As soon as you’re ready to make your first deposit, you’ll have another great offer waiting for you. 888Poker will match your first deposit (as long as it’s at least $10) dollar for dollar up to $1,500!
Each player is entitled to only one Welcome Bonus.
888Poker will release your bonus in $10 increments each time you earn 100 Bonus Points playing poker and casino games on the site for real money. However, uncleared portions of the bonus remain in a “restricted state” (which you can’t wager or withdraw) until the required wagering is completed. The Welcome Bonus expires 90 days from the date of the deposit.
Special offers for existing 888Poker players
The special offers for 888Poker players don’t stop with the Welcome Bonus. 888Poker takes care of its existing players, too. Here are some of the exciting offers that active players on this NJ gambling website can enjoy long after their initial deposit.
Reward Points and Status Points: 888Poker NJ Online
All real money bets on 888Poker–in both cash games and tournaments–earn you Reward Points, which you can accumulate and convert into cashback. The conversion rate is $10 cashback for every 1,000 Reward Points.
All real money bets on 888Poker also earn you Status Points. The number of Status Points you earn determines your status level: Blue (starting level), Iron, Bronze, Silver, Gold, or Platinum. Higher tier payers receive more freeroll invitations. Also, the higher your status level, the more Reward Points each Status Point is worth, so the more cashback you get as well!
888Poker Daily, Weekly, and Monthly Freerolls
The $50 daily freerolls are open to all players.
The weekly freerolls with a $500 prize pool take place every Friday starting at 8 p.m. They are open to all players at the Iron level and higher.
The monthly $4,800 freerolls offer the biggest prizes. They take place on the last Saturday of every month starting at 7 p.m. The monthly freerolls are only open to Silver, Gold, and Platinum level players.
It pays to play at 888Poker NJ online!
