DraftKings Sportsbook & DISH Network New App Lets You Bet From Your TV!
On March 3, 2021, DraftKings Sportsbook and DISH Network jointly announced the release of a brand new integrated app, the first of its kind.
DraftKings customers who also use the DISHTV Hopper platform will be able to start using the new app immediately.
DraftKings – DISH Integrated APP
Now you can watch TV and place your sports bets at the same time!
This innovative product will allow customers nationwide with the DISHTV Hopper platform to view NJ sports betting odds and Daily Fantasy Sports (DFS) contests, as well as place bets or enter contests with DraftKings directly from their TV.
Customers can open and use the app while watching any live, on-demand, or recorded program on the DISHTV Hopper platform.
DISHTV Hopper users can access the new DraftKings integrated app via the DISH Voice Remote, simply by saying “Launch DraftKings” or using the Apps menu. Prior registration as a DraftKings customer isn’t necessary. The integrated DK experience is open to all DISHTV Hopper customers.
Then, once you decide on your wagers, if you’re in New Jersey or any other state where sports betting for real money is legal and DraftKings is an approved betting site, you will receive a text message through DraftKings-created technology. This will allow you to complete your transactions on the DraftKings mobile app and collect if you win.
Furthermore, a provision in the agreement between the two parties also allows for similar DraftKings sportsbook and DFS access to DISH Network SLING TV and Boost Mobile customers in the future.
What’s great about the new DraftKings – Dish Network integrated app
Experienced sports bettors know that timing can mean everything when placing sports bets, as the odds can change in a heartbeat. A bet that could have been a winner two minutes ago could turn into a loser or vice versa.
The app makes it super convenient to keep checking the odds as often as you want and to place your bets at the optimum time without missing your favorite TV shows.
Also, in-play betting is a major part of what DraftKings Sportsbook offers. With the new app, you can watch a game in progress, learn about new injuries and lineup changes immediately, and be perfectly situated to get the best possible odds whenever a good opportunity arises–without missing any of the action.
The app is great for sports betting novices, too. It’s a great way to introduce a wide audience of people who might have never wagered on professional or college sports before to discover that doing so is not only fun but potentially very profitable.
According to Paul Liberman, president of product and technology and co-founder of DraftKings, the partnership with DISH Network will provide a “unique opportunity for sports fans, while allowing the company to reach fanbases in a completely new way.”
Brian Neylon, group president of DISHTV, called the integrated platform “a one-stop entertainment hub.”
“The integration with DraftKings is an exciting enhancement for our customers and a great addition to the growing DISH TV Hopper platform– a one-stop entertainment hub,”
“We’re thrilled to work with DraftKings to amplify the sports-fan experience, and extend the DraftKings footprint across our unique suite of services, including SLING TV and Boost Mobile, with potential applications across our 5G wireless buildout in the future.”
DraftKings Sportsbook has already become a household name
DraftKings has been in existence since 2012. On Aug. 6, 2018, in partnership with Resorts AC, it also became the first legal online/mobile sportsbook to launch in New Jersey.
Although DraftKings got its start as a DFS operator, it has since branched out to offer a much more diverse platform. Along with daily fantasy sports, DraftKings now gives you full-scale single-stop betting on all major sports along with casino play.
DraftKings Sportsbook is currently live with mobile sports betting in 12 states, more states than any other company in the industry. According to DraftKingsNews.com, these sites together represent 25 percent of the population. More states are expected to join the fold in the near future.
DISH TV isn’t its first media company partner
The agreement with DISH TV is the latest in a series of media partnerships that DraftKings has entered into to increase its exposure to US sports fans.
For example, in September 2020, DraftKings sealed a deal with ESPN whereby ESPN’s digital channels now link to the DraftKings Sportsbook. DraftKings is also ESPN’s exclusive daily fantasy sports content provider.
Then in October 2020, DraftKings also entered into a multi-year agreement with Turner Sports, which owns Bleacher Report. That was how DraftKings Sportsbook was able to livestream on the Bleacher Report app an exclusive program where NFL experts and celebrities talked about Super Bowl prop bets. DraftKings also serves as the exclusive sportsbook, DFS, and iGaming provider for Turner Sports.
DraftKings just keeps on growing—and the sky is the limit
Unlike many other gambling operators whose revenue was severely impacted by COVID-19, DraftKings was able to capitalize on the growing popularity of sports betting and iGaming big time. Its reported gross revenue for 2020 increased by 49 percent to $643.5 million.
But that’s small potatoes compared to the company’s revised expectation for 2021. During 2021, DraftKings projects total revenue in the range of $900 million to $1 billion!
