The mobile app is available for iOS and Android operating systems. The app is free to download on mobile devices.
Laptop/desktop users can sign up via the website.
Click the “Sign Me Up” button at the top of the page and be directed to enter existing DraftKings account info or create a new account with a username, email address, password, location and date of birth.
The system will perform a geolocation verification that is required by New Jersey law for online wagering. You are required to be in New Jersey to place a bet, but you do not have to be in NJ to create an account.
Linking DraftKings DFS/Sportsbook accounts
Great news for the DraftKings DFS/Sportsbook players, as it’s easy to connect the two.
A player’s DFS login info is the same for the NJ sportsbook app as long as he or she meets the regulations in place with New Jersey sports betting. New and existing users are still required to submit their full name, address, birth date, Social Security number and email address to verify eligibility.
Players can view their daily sportsbook balance along with the amount accessible from DFS under account statement transactions.
Users of both platforms can use DFS funds in the sportsbook as a result of the two platforms using a common wallet.
DraftKings does have some restrictions. A player’s account information page includes a transaction history with a sportsbook balance and the amount of funds accessible from daily fantasy.

Types of sports betting wagers
Moneyline
DraftKings Sportsbook in New Jersey simplifies things for the player with the “Who Will Win?” terminology.
Favorites are typically posted with a minus sign in front of a three-digit number while the plus sign usually identifies underdogs before the number. There are some games in which both teams will have a minus sign before the numbers, which come into play in the payout amount.
Take a look at the NFL regular season opener between the Philadelphia Eagles and Atlanta Falcons. The Super Bowl champion Eagles are -210, which means you would need to bet $200 to win $100. On the flip side, the Falcons are +160, so $100 bet on the Falcons would earn a the gamer $160.
Point spreads
Point spreads betting is one of the more popular preferences, especially during the NFL season. Unlike like the moneyline, the favored team needs to win by a certain number of points. Those who bet the underdog needs the team to win outright or come within a certain amount of points based on the spread. Some games may be listed as a “pick’em,” meaning the points do not come into play.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are listed at +9.5 in their season opener against the New Orleans Saints. If the Saints win 27-18, a bettor who takes the Bucs, or underdog, would have a winning ticket. Lines can change from the time they open until the start of a contest.
Parlays
A single bet in which two or more individual wagers are linked together and dependent on the others to produce a winning ticket. Parlay bets have higher payout amounts than if the bets are made separately. Instead of just betting on the Los Angeles Dodgers, gamers can parlay a moneyline, or who will win, with the over/under on total runs.
The DraftKings Sportsbook may restrict certain bets when the outcomes are considered correlated.
Prop bets
Propositions are extremely popular on Super Bowl Sunday, but wagers on players and games are listed for all sports. Wagering examples include the first team to score and the home team’s total points.
Futures
Just as it sounds, odds are listed several months in advance of major (and non-major) sporting events such as the Super Bowl, World Series or NBA Finals. Player futures on individual athlete performances — such as who will be the league MVP or how many passing yards Tom Brady will have — are listed, too.
Live betting
This type of bet is where a player can bet on an NFL game or other sporting events as it’s unfolding in real time. When choosing this option, users will notice the odds changing dynamically based on the real-time action.
Cashing out
Bettors have the option to cash out of an active bet before the final result is decided.
It is available with selected sports for pre-game, live, future and parlay bets. The payout may be more or less than the original wagered amount based on how events unfold after the bet is placed.
Using the DraftKings Sportsbook app in NJ
DraftKings’ app is nothing short of revolutionary. The Kambi product combines functionality with innovation to create a one-of-a-kind experience for each DraftKings player.
It accomplishes this task by employing, among other things, a betting carousel. This feature recommends possible wagers to each player based upon that player’s specified preferences and betting history.
As a result, each bettor’s DraftKings is different. Furthermore, it’s tailored to them specifically.
DraftKings also employs a deep in-game betting system. This system allows for tremendous granularity in wagering options – down to individual plays or moments during a match. As a result, each contest contains hundreds of wagering options, rather than the five or six found at traditional sportsbooks.
For the pure innovation alone, DraftKings Sportsbook deserves a look. However, new players receive $50 BONUS BET, plus a 20% matched deposit bonus up to $1,000 when they join and deposit.
So, there’s no reason not to try DraftKings today. If you’re in the Garden State, head there as soon as you can.
Once logged in, the selecting and placing a bet process can be completed in a matter of minutes.
Plus, the player doesn’t have to deal with the long lines that may exist at the sportsbook betting windows in Atlantic City. Everything from the sports to the different types of wagers is easy to read and access. The ability to scroll up and down through the betting carousel makes the experience stress-free for both novice and experienced bettors.
The app works much quicker with a strong Wi-Fi signal. Be prepared for multiple geolocation checks especially after exiting the app for an extended period.
There is a chance a player may have to sign in again as the system tracks the most recent login time.
DraftKings Casino games
The same platform that offers sports bets now includes popular casino games such as blackjack, roulette and slots in the DraftKings Casino.
While the game library isn’t extensive as its NJ online casino competitors, DraftKings has been adding more games since mid-December.
Look for the More Games tab in the bottom right-hand corner of the DraftKings Sportsbook app lobby. Bets can be made for as little as a penny and as high as $5,000.
The DraftKings DFS app is a separate platform, but the casino and sportsbook shares a wallet.

Placing bets via other devices
The DraftKings Sportsbook mobile software stands out as being extremely user-friendly, and the interface built for laptops, tablets and other devices seems equally as easy to navigate.
The DFS and sportsbook platforms are clearly labeled at the top of the page, allowing for easy back-and-forth access. Players can set a fantasy baseball lineup then wager on the New York Yankees/Boston Red Sox game without having to worry about closing a browser window.
Just like the DFS platform, the DraftKings green-and-white color scheme makes things easy on the eyes. The lobby menu, or homepage, is organized by sport with MLB, college football and NFL labels at the top of the page. Click on the game of choice to find the different types of available wagers.
The DraftKings Sportsbook also has an “A-Z Sports” menu, where bettors can find sporting events that are more popular outside of the United States (cricket, darts, etc.).
Deposits and withdrawals at DraftKings
Deposits
DraftKings recommends players fund their account via a bank transfer, MasterCard or Visa. The deposit menu currently includes five options of $25, $100, $200, $600 or other, with the minimum amount being $10.
The site also allows players to deposit using PayPal, Skrill, prepaid card, wire and ECheck/ACH.
Customers looking to track their deposit amounts have the options of setting daily/weekly/monthly limits.
Withdrawals
The company will refund all deposits made in the last 90 days.
The accounting department processes withdrawal requests 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. EST, Monday through Friday. Customers will receive a confirmation email once the request has been processed. It takes about two to eight days for funds to appear in a bank account.
Checks can take two to three weeks for delivery. Customers can also request to have the money returned to a credit card.
Loyalty program at DraftKings Sportsbook
DraftKings uses a Crowns program, a revamp of the previous Frequent Player Point system.
Every dollar spent on a real-money contest earns a crown, and can eventually be exchanged for DFS contest tickets and gear in the DraftKings store. Players also earn Experience Points by placing high in a DFS contest.
The Daily Rewards Status Tier keeps track of the number of crowns earned each month.
- Bronze: 100 crowns per month ($100 in entries)
- Silver: 500 crowns ($500 in entries)
- Gold: 2,000 crowns ($2,000 in entries)
- Platinum: 10,000 crowns ($10,000 in entries)
- Diamond: 25,000 crowns ($25,000 in entries)
- Black: 125,000 crowns ($125,000 in entries)
Crown balance is at the top of the page next to the account balance info.
NJ sports betting rules
Location: DraftKings will likely have different rules with different states, but for now, New Jersey is the only one in which bettors can place a wager via the sportsbook. Just like other NJ gambling websites, geolocation technology is used to verify this information. If a player is a New Jersey resident who is vacationing in Florida, the app will not accept their wager. This rule could change as other states approve sports betting legislation.
Age: Like at the nine Atlantic City casinos, a player must be at least 21 years old to gamble online.
Prohibited wagering: There is no betting on high school sporting events. New Jersey sports betting regulations prohibit wagering on collegiate athletic events that take place in the Garden State.
Betting on Rutgers, Seton Hall, Princeton along with other New Jersey-based college/universities is not allowed, it doesn’t matter if the game is being played in North Jersey or New York City.
DraftKings sets the bar for NJ online sports betting
Just like the highly competitive and crowded New Jersey online casino market that generated more than $25 million in revenue for July, other players in town are lining up to launch their respective mobile sports betting products in time for NFL season. Borgata, the first sportsbook to go live in Atlantic City, entered the mobile sports betting game earlier this month via the playMGM app for Android devices. The SugarHouse Sportsbook followed via its licensing agreement with the Golden Nugget.
Being the first player in the game means DraftKings has set the bar for the New Jersey online sports betting scene, and the product has an incredibly detailed look and feel to it with its extensive sports betting menu, FAQ section and available personal account sections.
DraftKings, which has been around since 2012, is well established in the global sports technology industry and is a brand name that is recognized worldwide. It The European-based Kambi Group announced earlier this summer that it inked a multiyear agreement with DraftKings to provide technology and service support.
The company has stated that the DraftKings Sportsbook “is the culmination of almost a year of intense preparation” with the result being about “creating the best and most enjoyable sports betting product for US consumers.”
The early August sportsbook launch provides a window to work out any kinks. Other than a brief delay with the geolocation technology, the software seems to be running without glitches.
DraftKings Sportsbook is worthy of a high score. Once others go live with their respective New Jersey mobile sports betting products and financial figures after September, it will be easier to judge where it stands in what is guaranteed to be an extremely competitive market.
