PartyPoker NJ Review

Partypoker’s history in the United States goes further back than most people realize. In 2001, Partypoker launched in our country and the brand was widely recognized as one of the first online poker rooms in the world. And after leaving for a time in accordance with US laws, Party Poker NJ has been present since the beginning of New Jersey’s regulated poker scene in 2013,
Considered one of the top three online poker operators in the Garden State, partypoker NJ is known for their substantial multi-table tournaments guarantees.

Review of party poker online software
Party poker’s software received some much-needed software improvements when there was a change at the top in 2015. GVC Holdings acquired Party, and brought in poker industry veteran Rob Yong to help shepherd their poker offering. Another software milestone occurred in 2019 when the party poker app saw vast improvements.
Yong consistently solicits feedback from party poker players on social media, running polls and asks open-ended questions.
We are optimistic about the continuing efforts to improve partypoker.com NJ.
Check out the screenshot of party poker’s software evolution:
A review of the desktop software
You can download the party poker NJ client for Windows and Mac operating systems.
Minimum system requirements for PC users are:
- Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 10
- Minimum of 512 MB RAM
- Minimum screen resolution of 800×600 pixels with 256 colors
Unfortunately, we were unable to learn the minimum requirements for Mac users.
Partypoker NJ software improvements
Overall, we note a vast improvement in partypoker.com NJ’s stability.
The desktop software client used to crash multiple times during a poker session. Essentially, the software client would disappear and, as we would play a session, it would reboot, signifying that the client crashed. This has greatly improved and is no longer the major problem it once was.
New fun features, Diamond and Rabbit Hunt, allow you to see the cards that would be dealt if you completed the hand.
Also, to promote fairness, both players are required to play an equal number of big blinds before quitting a heads-up table.
Again, we cannot speak highly enough of partypoker.com NJ’s efforts to improve its software and promote player fairness.
Remaining software bugs
Despite improvements and continual efforts to party poker NJ, there are software bugs.
Our gripe is the lobby lags a lot. It appears to lag the longer the poker session becomes.
How this affects a longer session is when you open a tournament lobby to register, the tournament lobby sometimes switches to a different tournament.
It is frustrating, but due to partypoker NJ’s efforts to improve, we would still recommend and continue to play there.
Party poker app review
The party poker mobile app is available on Apple and Android devices.
Before downloading the app from the relevant app store, we recommend using the PartyPoker web sign-up portal along with our bonus code BONUSCHIPS to ensure you maximize your bonuses.
Pros of the party poker NJ app
Overall, the party poker app loads and run smoothly.
The lobby is visually appealing, and each poker game includes an eye-catching design.
There are some excellent features on the mobile app that emulate the desktop experience.
Filters for game type, stakes and players are intuitive and easy to use. On the app, it is easy to deposit and withdraw funds, and adjust settings.
The party poker mobile app even includes some fun features.
For example, you can use the emoticons options to throw kisses or eggs at our opponents.
Also, Rabbit Hunt lets you see what cards you could have been dealt if you had chosen to complete the poker hand.
You can even easily pull hand histories and use the replayer option to review hands.
Most importantly? The party poker app allows for a great multi-tabling experience.
This is not to say that you should play a lot of tables, but it is suited for switching between two tables.
Simply, you swipe your screen to change your active tables. There is an “active bar” at the top of your screen that displays your hand at the other table and a “progress bar,” so you don’t time out or fail to act in time.
Lastly, party poker is continually updating its software.
It releases videos that accompany the latest mobile app update. The company even utilizes its blog to release new features included in each software update.
Cons of the Party Poker app
Honestly, there are not many negatives to the partypoker NJ mobile poker app. The only real issue we have is with downloading the android app, but as this applies to all NJ poker sites we can’t blame Party for the inconvenience.
Specifically, to download the app on your Android device, you are required to enable non-market apps. You can do so by going to “Settings” on your Android device, then “Security” and making sure the box with “Unknown Sources” is checked.
Even after that, we still had to direct our Android device to download the app as it was marked as a suspicious download.
There are no such issues downloading to iPhone or iPads.
Review of partypoker.com NJ poker games
On the cash game front, partypoker offers all types of poker games, including different formats plus free and real money stakes. The player pool is not massive, though, so not every game type runs at every stake all the time.
Conversely, multi-table tournaments are partypoker.com NJ’s forte.
Partypoker.com NJ multi-table tournaments
Despite being a relatively small online poker room, partypoker.com NJ’s multi-table tournament (MTT) offerings aren’t something to turn your nose up at.
In fact, when partypoker.com NJ runs special tournament series, these often boast a robust player field.
Below, we have highlighted some of the party poker NJ MTTs:
- Daily 10K Guaranteed 2x re-entry for $109
- $3,000 Guaranteed turbo 2x re-entry $55
- $3,000 Guaranteed turbo 1x re-entry $215

Partypoker.com NJ’s other poker games
Additionally, party poker NJ offers cash games, sit and gos and fast-forward poker games.
Sadly, these games appear to be a struggle to fill. You will not find many of these games running, but check them out, especially during peak hours.
Cash games
Partypoker NJ offers hold’em, Omaha and stud cash games. Available stakes range from $0.01/$0.02 to $25/50.
Stud games don’t run that often. Omaha games are slightly more popular and typically you can find at least one active table at the micro-stakes during peak hours.
As for hold’em, available stakes range from $0.01/$0.02 up to $25/50. No-Limit Hold’em usually runs up to $1/$2 only.
It is difficult to find any action at stakes higher unless you find an active opponent at a heads-up table.
Sit and gos (SNG)
While party poker NJ offers no-limit hold’em and Omaha SNG varieties with a range of buy-ins from $1 to $500 along with standard or turbo and heads-up to 6-max, the amount of traffic is not terrific. At times, it is even difficult to find any action.
Fast-forward poker
Essentially, this game type moves you, as soon as your hand is folded, to a new table. It ensures that you can play your next hand of poker without waiting for the rest of the hand to finish.
They are not typically running at PartyPoker NJ, but you can check the lobby from time to time to see if a game takes shape.
About party poker NJ loyalty program
According to party poker in NJ, loyalty pays. But, how does its loyalty program work? Here’s how:
- First, you must create your party poker account.
- As you play, you earn points.
- You are assigned a loyalty level.
- Redeem points for tournament tickets, cash, clothing, electronics or luxury items in the points store.
Firstly, you earn points by playing in promotions, tournaments or cash games. What’s more? Certain points redeemed during a specified promotional period may count toward the loyalty level.
Earn 2 points for each $1 you spend on tournament entry fees or cash game rake. Typically, you receive your points within 24 hours.
Be aware that your points reset to zero at the start of a new calendar month or quarter, depending on your loyalty level.
Also, make sure to maintain an active status by earning points in a period of 12 weeks. Five percent, or 5 points, are deducted every week you are inactive. If the inactivity is more than 20 weeks, all remaining points are removed from the account.
A new period resets as soon as you make a real-money wager.
Here are party poker NJ’s loyalty tiers:
- Bronze: 0+ points per month
- Silver: 50+ points per month
- Gold: 750+ points per month
- Palladium: 2,000+ points per month
Not to mention, tournament tickets are awarded each month, depending on your loyalty level:
- Bronze: $5 tourney ticket

- Gold: $215 tourney tickets
- Palladium: $215 tourney tickets
Depending on your loyalty tier, here is the maximum amount of rake back you can earn:
- Bronze: 6.7%
- Silver: 15.4%
- Gold: 20.5%

Partypoker’s US history
Partypoker’s has a rich history in the US. In 2001, partypoker launched in the US and became widely recognized as one of the first online poker rooms in the world.
It advertised heavily and created a large following during online poker’s early boom.
Unfortunately, when the Unauthorized Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA) passed in 2006, partypoker made the difficult decision to leave the US market. On the other hand, due to that decision, partypoker was able to launch courtesy of the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement. As a reminder, the Garden State legalized online gambling in November 2013.
While this meant that partypoker lost brand recognition during those absent years, the brand remains a solid contender in the New Jersey market.
About party poker NJ
Notably, juggernaut online gambling and poker provider, GVC Holdings bought party poker in 2015.
GVC, in partnership with MGM Resorts, formed Roar Digital in a $200 million sports betting deal. What this means is that party poker gains a foothold or a way into any state that legalizes online gambling and also has an MGM or Boyd Gaming brick-and-mortar casino.
For example, the parent company, GVC Holdings, gained its online gambling license for the state of Nevada in 2019.
Because a license for online poker is included in the overall online gambling license, party poker will eventually launch in Nevada as well. As of now, the priority for party poker is its Pennsylvania launch.
Shared poker networks or liquidity
All this begs the question, how about a shared poker network or liquidity?
To explain, other states, including Nevada, New Jersey and Delaware, share a player pool while playing online under the WSOP (World Series of Poker) brand name. This leaves poker enthusiasts champing at the bit to encourage a bigger player pool by promoting a shared player pool or shared liquidity.
However, even when partypoker launches in PA, don’t expect an interstate compact between the two states of New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Unfortunately, a revised Wire Act opinion and litigation involving the view is ongoing. Additionally, the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) is extremely conservative and cautious regarding the Wire Act. With this in mind, do not expect a shared player pool immediately. Nonetheless, it is on the horizon in the future with a favorable conclusion to the Wire Act litigation.
In partnership with partypoker and Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa, partypoker.com NJ includes two other skins: Borgata Poker and BetMGM.
The player pool is the same across the skins with the same tables and tournaments. All the changes are the visual look and slightly different bonuses, promotions and rakeback. While players on these skins share the same network, it is not considered truly shared liquidity as players in other states would be able to join. Skins are another way to log into the same operator.
