As much as you would love to win every time you play in the casino, there will be times, through no fault of your own, that you can’t get any luck to go your way. It’s frustrating, to say the least.
But it’s definitely less so knowing that your favorite NJ gambling website has your back, like Tropicana Online Casino does this weekend, and will return part of your loss back to you in the form of a bonus
Tropicana calls the promotion it is offering this weekend Paradise Playback. To me, that’s a bit of stretch. There’s nothing idyllic about losing, especially when there’s real money involved.
But there is one similarity. In Paradise, you have nothing at all to worry about, and the same is true with this Tropicana Playback Bonus. That’s because if your playing session ends in a loss, the worst has already happened. You get to clear the bonus entirely with the casino’s money, so you can’t possibly lose any more of your own money. So from here on out, things can only get better.
The next time you play you could win! So in that sense, your Paradise Playback Bonus could be the next best thing to winning in the first place.
How the Tropicana Online Casino Paradise Playback Bonus works
This promotion runs from 12:01 a.m. Friday, August 16 through 11:59 p.m. Sunday, August 18. Play anytime you wish during that time period and wager at least $50. However, you must choose from the following 12 slot games for your play to count.
Secrets of the Phoenix
Tiki Island Mini
Agatha Christie’s Mystery Wilds
Zeus™ God of Thunder™
Scudamore’s Super Stakes™
If and only if your total play on these games during the promotion period results in a net loss, you will receive a 15 percent playback bonus up to a maximum bonus of $50.
How to determine the amount of your bonus
Keep in mind that the bonus is calculated based on your total net loss, if any, for the weekend and not how you fare during any one playing session or calendar day. Therefore, you can have one or more winning sessions and still qualify for a bonus. Conversely, you can have one or more losing sessions and not qualify for a bonus.
In order to qualify for the maximum bonus of $50, you would need to show a net loss of $333.34 or more. The bonus amounts for smaller losses will be prorated accordingly. For example, if you show a net loss of $100, your bonus would be $15. The smallest bonus that Tropicana will award is $1 based on a net loss of $6.67. If you lose less than that or if you win, you won’t get a bonus.
When will you receive the bonus?
On Monday, August 19, Tropicana will review each participant’s results and determine how much bonus money, if any, you have coming to you. If you qualify for a bonus, you can expect to see the money in your account 24 hours thereafter. But allow up to three business days in case of technical difficulties.
Wagering requirements for the Tropicana Online Casino Playback Bonus
Unless you are brand new to Tropicana Online Casino, you probably already know exactly what you need to do to clear this bonus. The wagering requirements and other terms and conditions for every bonus you receive from this casino, or from its sister NJ gambling website, Virgin Online Casino, are identical.
You have up to 30 days from the time you receive your bonus to wager it 1x on any game you wish. Then, as soon as you complete this very minimal amount of wagering, you are free to withdraw any winnings. However, you no longer have access to the bonus itself, so even if you win, forget about rebetting or withdrawing that money. Win or lose, as soon as you wager the bonus once, the casino takes the bonus back and you never see it again.
Tropicana Online Casino Paradise Playback Bonus Pros and Cons
I am not a big fan of Playback Bonuses. I prefer bonuses that are earned based solely on the amount deposited or wagered, irrespective of whether the player wins or loses.
That said, I realize that Playback Bonuses are popular with many players. Losing is never fun, but ending a playing session with less money than when you started becomes more tolerable when some of that money, even a small portion of it, is returned to you as a bonus.
Playback bonuses vs. cashback bonuses
If you play on any other NJ gambling websites besides Tropicana and Virgin, you may encounter offers from time to time for a cashback bonus. A cashback bonus is similar to a playback bonus inasmuch as the only way to get it is to wager and lose a certain amount of your own money first. However, the difference is that with a cashback bonus, there are no further wagering requirements. If you wish, you can withdraw any or all of the bonus money immediately and call it a day. You are under no obligation to chase your losses.
Some playback bonuses are also cashable, but not until the player has satisfied the wagering requirements. If the wagering requirement is substantial (i.e., 15x the bonus or greater), players face the risk of losing even more of their own money. This bonus from Tropicana only needs to be wagered once so it costs you nothing. But the downside is that you can’t keep the bonus, only your winnings, if any, from betting the bonus.
Other problems with the Tropicana Playback Bonus
Traditional bonuses can be risky, especially for players with small bankrolls. If they have to bet the bonus over and over again, they won’t be able to count on the bonus alone to provide enough money to meet the wagering requirements. So, almost inevitably, they will have to dip into their own deposited funds, too. But the flip side is many opportunities to win and even win substantially.
Because you can only bet this bonus once and can’t keep it either, the opportunity to win with the bonus is much more limited. Furthermore, the bonus only amounts to 15 percent of the money the player has already lost and has a $50 cap, so the amount will be small. For all of these reasons, while it is not impossible, with the help of this bonus, to get out of the red completely and recoup the entire earlier loss and more, it is highly improbable.
My biggest problem with this bonus, however, is the negative mindset it creates. Yes, you would love to win, but you also want a bonus. But you can’t have both. Then you start thinking about other times when you not only lost but didn’t get a bonus either and tell yourself that you’ll probably lose again. But it’s okay because this time you will get a bonus and could wind up winning after all. That’s how a Playback Bonus can make losing a self-fulfilling prophecy.
Even if you find yourself ahead in the course of your play, quitting a winner will be difficult. You will be tempted to play longer than you should, knowing that if your good luck doesn’t continue and you give your winnings back, at least you will get a bonus.
What’s great about the Tropicana Playback Bonus
Now that you know what’s not so great about this offer, let’s focus on why, as long as you are going to be playing on TropicanaCasino.com anyway this weekend, you should definitely take advantage of it.
It’s a promotion everyone can afford
For starters, you don’t have to wager any more money than usual. No deposit is necessary, and as long as you wager at least $50 on any of the 12 included slot games before the promotion ends at 11:59 p.m. Sunday, that’s sufficient. There are no specified “Happy Hours” either, so you pick the times when you want to play, not when the casino says you have to play.
If you win, Tropicana Online Casino has nothing else for you other than your usual Trop Points. You won’t get a bonus. But don’t feel bad because winning is by far the better outcome.
If you lose, your 15 percent bonus will only amount to a small part of the deficit, but what’s great about it is that the casino is giving you a free shot to bet the bonus once and try to win. In the worst-case scenario, you won’t win, but there’s no harm done because this time it’s the casino’s money you have lost and not your own. But you could win, and what you do with those winnings is entirely up to you. You can withdraw the money immediately or re-wager it and try to win more. Too bad the bonus is “sticky” and you can’t withdraw that, too. But take what you can get.
Opportunity to play some great slot games
I mentioned earlier that a Playback Bonus is not my bonus of choice because of the psychological games the casino is playing with you to increase the likelihood of losing. But here’s another factor strongly in your favor that can cancel out the negative factors and help you win. The 12 included slots include some of the highest returning slots in the casino.
For example, Anchorman, Dancing Drums, Scudamore’s Super Stakes, and Zeus God of Thunder all have a Return to Player (RTP) at or above 96 percent, while Agatha Christie’s Mystery Wins comes very close with an RTP of 95.87 percent. In fact, two of these slots, Agatha Christie’s Mystery Wilds and Scudamore’s Super Stakes, are featured on this website as Barb’s Best Bets. Playing high returning slots like these minimizes risk to your bankroll and significantly improves your chances of winning.
The bottom line
If you’re a Tropicana Online Casino player, by all means, take advantage of the opportunity this casino is giving you this weekend to get a 15 percent Playback Bonus on your net losses. It’s a no-risk bonus you only get to bet once so there’s zero chance to lose with it, and you could win. But think positive. Much like health, accident, and home insurance are all good things to have, but you hope you won’t have to use, the same applies to this bonus. It’s nice to know it’s there if you need it, but hopefully, the excellent slots you play this weekend will make you a big winner instead.
Slots can be considered both the simplest and most complicated of New Jersey online casino games.
Clicking a single button to spin the reels may make the gameplay for most slots relatively easy to follow. But with intricate themes, multiple paylines, and a variety of bonus games available, it can be downright hard figuring out how exactly you want those reels to line up.
This Online Slots 101 series has been designed to do the grunt work for you. Here is where we will outline how to play and how to beat some of the most popular online slots in the NJ online casino market today.
It might not help you win a big jackpot, but it will most certainly help you figure out how to.
Wonderland slot on Virgin and Tropicana
Wonderland is a five-reel and 100-payline online slot based on the 1865 Lewis Carroll children’s classic “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland.” As such, the slot’s symbols are all based on the book’s iconic characters and imagery.
That means plenty of tea cups and hookahs, and of course, characters like the Mad Hatter, the Queen of Hearts, the Cheshire Cat, and Alice herself.
Having five reels means Wonderland features five columns filled with these and other symbols. The 100 paylines refer to the fact there are 100 different ways to look at how those symbols can line up for you to get paid on any single spin. Check out the game’s paytable to view the patterns of all 100 paylines.
Like most slots, wins on Wonderland start with lining up three or more of the same symbols on any one of the 100 lines. However, Wonderland also features a Wild symbol that acts as a substitute for most other symbols.
Characters pay more, bonuses best
The characters are the highest paying symbols in the game, with Alice at the top of the list. The lowest paying and most common symbols are the teapots and teacups.
There is also a Bonus symbol that will help players gain access to any one of four different bonus games where the possibility for even bigger wins occur, including a massive progressive jackpot.
At last check, the progressive jackpot on Wonderland at Virgin and Tropicana had reached more than $560,000.
Simply match three or more bonus symbols and you’ll get the chance to pick from a series of secret doors, each with one of four bonus games behind it.
The progressive jackpot can be won during any one of these four bonus games:
Croquet Bonus Game
In the Croquet Bonus Game, Alice and the Queen of Hearts compete in a game of croquet. You choose who you want to play as and pick the hoops to compete on. You win various rewards for beating your opponent on each hoop. There’s also a special bonus round at the end where you free a group of hedgehogs trapped by the queen. Find five hedgehogs with gold stars on their belly here and you’ll win the progressive jackpot.
Mad Tea Party Bonus Game
The Mad Tea Party Bonus Game allows you to click on teapots revealing various rewards. Finding a Dormouse will take you to a bonus round that allows you to click on cupcakes revealing various rewards.
Finding a Progressive Coin here triggers a progressive jackpot win.
Painting the Roses Bonus Game
The Painting the Roses Bonus Game asks you to paint the white roses red before the Queen sees. Click on each paint and reveal various rewards. Paint all of the roses red before the Queen appears and you’ll win the progressive jackpot.
The Queen’s Court Bonus Game
The Queen’s Court Bonus Game asks you to pick one of the two cards on the screen. The higher the card, the bigger the prize. Finding a Queen will end the bonus round. But finding a Joker first will trigger the progressive jackpot.
It is possible to win the progressive jackpot playing any bet size. However, increasing your bet size will increase your chances.
Starting the game
To start the game, you must first choose a coin size. Several are available on the screen and you can see more by clicking the “MORE BETS” button.
Each spin automatically activates all 100 paylines. That means your total bet will always be the coin size chosen times 100.
To spin the reels, you simply click the “PLAY” button. After your first spin, you can also click the “REPEAT BET” button to spin, or choose one of the other “BET” buttons to spin with a different coin size.
Summer is fast approaching. That means a getaway from the everyday hustle and bustle—to Tropicana Atlantic City perhaps–would be especially welcome. But at this time of year, it can also be very expensive.
So if money is tight, forget it. Or maybe not. Because Tropicana Online Casino has the perfect solution.
If you’re a winner in this week’s Suite Destination giveaway, you’ll be on your way to Atlantic City to enjoy an idyllic summer getaway sooner than you think. During the day you’ll be soaking up the sun on the beach. But at night you’ll be pampered like the king or queen of the castle in the luxurious suite of your choice.
But that’s not all. You’ll also receive $100 in slot credits and a $100 restaurant credit. And the best part of this incredible package, valued at over $1,000, is that it’s completely free!
How to participate in the Tropicana Suite Destination Giveaway
It can be anything from bonus money to electronic gadgets to a vacation. But one thing you can always count on is that it’s worth playing for. And this week’s giveaway–an overnight getaway including a suite at the Tropicana Atlantic City and more–is no exception.
Unfortunately, only one player will win this fabulous prize. But as long as you are going to play on TropicanaCasino.com this week anyway, you might as well try and earn as many entries as you can because that super lucky winner could be you!
Are you eligible?
First things first. Here are the eligibility requirements. You don’t necessarily have to live in New Jersey, but you do need to be a registered TropicanaCasino.com player with access to that NJ gambling website.
However, residents of New York, Florida, Rhode Island, Louisiana, Hawaii, Guam, and Puerto Rico are excluded.
How to earn entries for the drawing
The more you play during the promotion period (up to a point), the more entries you will earn and the better your chances of winning. However, because there can only be one winner, even with the maximum number of entries (35), having your name picked is still a longshot.
The period for earning entries started on Monday, June 3 and ends at 11:59 p.m. Sunday, June 9. On each qualifying day during that time period, for every $50 that you wager on any game, you will earn one entry into the drawing, up to a maximum of five entries if all together that day you wager $250 or more.
Therefore, the maximum number of entries for any individual player is 35. In order to get that many, you would need to play all seven days of the NJ online casino promotion and wager $250 or more each day.
Given the high value of the prize, as long as you can afford it, that’s what you should do to maximize your chances. However, if that is too much wagering for you, don’t worry about it. Simply do the best you can and hope for the luck of the draw.
However, keep in mind that TropicanaCasino.com counts each day’s play separately. You cannot carry over wagers from one day to the next. So the minimum amount you need to wager on any given day to earn any entries for that day’s play is $50.
What type of suite suits your fancy? Winner’s choice!
Deciding which day to take the trip and how to use the $100 slot credit and $100 food credit won’t be the lucky winner’s only tough choices. Another will be selecting which themed suite to stay in from the half-dozen that Tropicana Atlantic City is offering. These are your choices.
The Caribbean Suite
The French Suite
The Italian Suite
The Moroccan Suite
The Park Avenue Suite
The Southwest Suite
Dates are subject to availability and include Mon.-Thurs. only. If the winner prefers a weekend stay, it will be at one of the Tropicana’s regular suites rather than any of these themed suites.
Determining and notifying the winner of the Tropicana AC Suite Getaway
On Monday, June 10, Tropicana Online Casino will hold a random drawing to determine the winner. The casino will then notify that person via email within three business days, along with instructions on how to claim the prize. The winner then has up to 14 calendar days to claim the prize and up to 90 days thereafter to use the prize.
Additional terms and conditions
The prize being awarded in this promotion is non-transferable. It is also non-exchangeable, with the sole exceptions being the following. A regular suite will be substituted if the winner chooses to stay on a weekend or Tropicana will make an alternative offer if the requested accommodations are unavailable.
In addition, whoever wins this prize is required to be a Tropicana Atlantic City Trop Advantage member. If the winner is not already a member, he or she can sign up at or before the time of check-in.
The slot and restaurant credit must be used during the same period of stay as the hotel reservation.
Any other expenses, including other food, beverages, and incidentals, taxes, gratuities, and travel costs, are not included in the prize package and are the winner’s own responsibility.
Tropicana Suite Destination Giveaway pros and cons
Now that you know all about the Tropicana Suite Destination giveaway, assuming you are eligible, you need to decide if this promotion is worth your time.
If you typically play on the site only occasionally and for very small stakes, probably not. The number of entries you earn will probably be so few that the likelihood of being the one person picked for a prize is exceedingly slim.
On the other hand, if you enjoy playing your favorite Tropicana NJ online games enough to play daily and feel you can earn the maximum number of entries or close to it, you should give this giveaway a go.
Choose your games wisely, so even if, as expected, you don’t win the Tropicana suite getaway, you still have a good chance to win in your play.
What could be better
This promotion would have been a lot better if it awarded other lesser prizes along with the Grand Prize. Most of the giveaways on TropicanaCasino.com also award bonus money as secondary prizes to many of the participants who don’t win a major prize.
It is very surprising that this one doesn’t. As it stands, everyone but one super lucky player will walk away from the Tropicana Suite Destination giveaway empty-handed. And that isn’t sweet.
What I like best about this promotion, apart from the fact that the casino is offering a great prize, is that Tropicana has kept the entry earning requirements very reasonable. This keeps the door open to participate for a very wide range of players.
Furthermore, instead of placing no limit at all on the number of entries any one player can have, you’re limited to five entries per day. So there’s no way high rollers who can easily afford to bet thousands of dollars per day can get the upper hand over everyone else.
The weeklong entry earning period is already underway. So if you haven’t started yet and would like to, what are you waiting for? If luck is on your side, on top of whatever you win playing, Tropicana could be sending you to Atlantic City to enjoy the suite life!
Tropicana offers you a Summer of More
Here’s more great news. The Tropicana Suite Destination is only one small part of Tropicana’s commitment to bring you a Summer of More.
So even if you’re not a winner in this promotion, all summer long you can still cash in frequently both online and in Atlantic City on other Tropicana special events, activities, and promotions.
Keep checking in with NJ Gambling Websites to learn all about the exciting Tropicana online casino promotions this summer. But surely you will want to visit Tropicana Atlantic City, too. Here is what you can look forward to there during the Tropicana Summer of More.

American wheels have both a zero and a double zero slot, dropping the return-to-player (RTP) from traditional European roulette down as much as 3.5%.
As a player, that’s money in your pocket. Thankfully, Tropicana Online Casino lets you keep that money by providing a decent selection of roulette games that employ a traditional European wheel with just a single zero as well.
Tropicana is a mirror image of sister site Virgin Casino. Individual branding is the only significant difference.
In fact, the selection of roulette games on Tropicana is the same as Virgin. That means there are six online roulette games and traditional American, European and French roulette are all there.
Here’s a look at the RTP on all six online roulette games at Tropicana:
- Single zero roulette (European 97.29% RTP)
- American roulette (American 94.74% RTP)
- European roulette (NetEnt) (European 97.29% RTP)
- French roulette (NetEnt) (European 97.3% RTP)
- American roulette (NetEnt) (American 94.74% RTP)
- High stakes single zero roulette (European 97.29% RTP)
Finding the top roulette titles on Tropicana
Online roulette is easy to find on Tropicana. That’s because Tropicana’s Gamesys-designed online casino interface is easy to navigate.
There’s very little clutter on the homepage, and all you need to do to find anything is to locate the Tropicana logo near the top of the screen. Then browse through the various menu choices to the right of it.
You should see one labeled “Casino.” Clicking on that link will bring you to a complete list of all Tropicana’s casino games. The names of the games appear in large-sized title tile format.
These bigger tiles make it easy to find the games you’re seeking. Each also contains more info about the game and links to free-to-play demos and the game itself.
Of course, all of Tropicana’s casino games are listed here. Therefore, finding roulette titles requires a bit more searching. But once again, the bigger tiles make that easy.
Just look for anything with the word “roulette” in the title and click on it. Chances are you won’t be disappointed.
Roulette on Tropicana
Here’s a look at all six Tropicana Online Casino roulette games:
Single zero roulette
Single Zero Roulette is a standard European roulette game. That means just one zero and a player-friendly 97.29% RTP.
Gamesys’ own American roulette is classic casino American roulette. That means a zero, double zero, and an RTP of 94.74%. Serious roulette players will want to avoid this one.
American roulette (NetEnt)
NetEnt’s version is another standard American roulette. The same zero, double zero and 94.74% RTP are found here as well.
This is NetEnt’s standard European roulette with just a single zero. The same player-friendly 97.29% RTP can be found here.
NetEnt’s French roulette is a twist on classic European roulette. There’s only one zero on the wheel and players can take advantage of the la partage rule.
This means you get half an even-money bet back when the zero hits as a bonus.
High-stakes single zero roulette
This is classic European roulette you can play for up to $4,000 a spin.
With summer almost upon us, Tropicana Casino Online NJ will be phasing out its huge Spring of More promotion. Since March, players have been blessed with at least 3 different Spring of More opportunities each week at Tropicana’s online casino site.
Tropicana, sister site Virgin and NJ casino leader Golden Nugget, are the most generous with their weekly and monthly (and even annual) NJ gambling websites promotions. So before the month is out, make sure you take advantage of Trop’s Sunshine Sharepot.
What Is Tropicana’s Sunshine Sharepot?
To celebrate the beautiful Spring weather, this Sunshine Sharepot is giving away $10,000 to registered Tropicana players. Running from Tuesday, May 28th to Thursday, May 20th, you have the opportunity earn a portion of that $10k Sharepot just by playing your favorite games.
All you have to do is:
- Play any slot, table game, video poker game or Blackjack game during the three-day time period.
- Each day you bet at least $100, you’ll get 1 entry, with up to 5 available per day.
- At the end of the period, ticket holders will get their portion of the Sharepot, based on how many entries they’ve earned.
Final Spring of More Promotion: Suite Destination
The last Spring of More NJ online casino bonus promotion of the year is Suite Destination, running from Tuesday, May 28th to Sunday, June 2nd. This great promo promises a fun-filled trip to stay at the Tropicana in Atlantic City in one of their themed luxury suites. The total package includes the two-night stay, as well as $100 in restaurant credits and $100 in slot credits.
To earn this mini getaway, you’ll need to spend some time on the site playing your favorite games, be it Three Card Poker, the new Anchorman: Legend of Ron Burgundy slot, 90 Ball Bingo, or even a video poker game like Game King Bonus Poker.
For every $50 wager you will earn an entry into the Prize Draw, up to 5 per day.
Starting Now: Tropicana’s Summer of More
As Trop phases out its Spring promotions, they’re now beginning their Summer of More push, with the first promotion being Boardwalk Playback. This promotion will begin Friday, May 31st and run through Sunday, June 2nd and will award you up to $50 in Bonus Money Playback.

- Scudamore’s Super Stakes

One of the biggest progressive jackpots at an NJ online casino
Tropicana Online Casino is home to as many as 220 online slots.
There’s everything from online versions of classic reel slots to the latest themed video slots based on some of the best TV shows, movies and recording artists of all time.
In terms of online slots, Tropicana Online Casino is truly loaded. There’s something for everyone, from penny slots to slot games offering NJ online casino jackpots filled with what’s life-changing money for most.
The online slots with the biggest jackpots are usually the most popular on NJ gambling websites. Which is why finding the best slots on Tropicana is really about finding the site’s biggest jackpot slots.
Finding online slots at Tropicana Casino NJ
Finding Tropicana’s list of 180 different online slots is relatively easy. The Gamesys-designed Tropicana Online Casino interface ensures that. The homepage is pretty much clutter-free, making it easy to find exactly what you’re looking for.
Just locate the Tropicana Atlantic City logo at the top of the screen. Look through the seven menu choices to the right and you should; see one labeled “Slots.” Just click on it and you’ll see a list of all 180 online slots Tropicana appear below.
The list is in title tile format, but the Tropicana tiles are even larger than most, making it easy to browse through the list and find exactly what you want.
Each of the tiles contains info about the game, a link to a free-to-play demo and the slot itself.
You may see some tiles with a yellow banner on the top left with the word “Exclusive” inside. These are the slots found exclusively on Tropicana. It’s a list that includes favorites like:
- Family Feud
- Million Dollar Money Drop
- The Godfather
- Tiki Island
Plus, about a dozen more slots you won’t find anywhere else.
Browse through all the tiles and one with a black banner on the bottom half with a dollar figure inside should become clear to you.
It’s the Wonderland progressive jackpot slot and the dollar figures inside that banner represent how much the current progressive jackpot is worth.
Wonderland is the only progressive jackpot slot on Tropicana, but with a jackpot above $500,000 as of the beginning of May 2019, that’s really enough.
If you’re like most people, you play slots chasing a big jackpot and Tropicana gives you the chance to do that with Wonderland.
Here’s a closer look at the game:
Wonderland is easily Tropicana’s most popular online slot because of the massive progressive jackpot it offers. In fact, the game has a reputation for paying out some of the largest jackpots in NJ gambling website history.
The West Pier Studio-designed five-reel, 100-payline slot features the same characters and symbols you’ll find inside the Lewis Carroll children’s classic Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland.
The Mad Hatter, White Rabbit and the Queen of Hearts are all here.
Wonderland features four separate bonus games.
The Queen’s Court game is where a chance to win the progressive jackpot awaits. The Queen’s Court is a basic high-low card game. Players advance through the game by picking whether the next card will be higher or lower than the one before it.
If a joker appears, the progressive jackpot is yours.

"Golden Nugget is my favorite New Jersey online casino. The game selection is incredible!" – Ben Halverson
Tropicana Online Casino is basically a mirror image of its sister NJ gambling website Virgin Casino. Except for individual branding and a few games that are exclusive to one or the other, these Gamesys-designed New Jersey online casino sites are one and the same.
That means Tropicana Online Casino features an user interface that’s easy to navigate and a homepage that’s a lot less cluttered than most.
It also means there’s a decent selection of Blackjack, Roulette, Video Poker, and Keno titles on the site. Plus, Tropicana Online Casino boats a list of seven alternatives to these traditional table games with something for everyone.
The return to player rates (RTP) on these games is half decent as well, making Tropicana Online Casino a great place to play non-traditional table games.
Here’s how the list of alternative table games looks at Tropicana:
- Baccarat: 98.94% on banker bets, 98.76% on player bets, and 85.6% on ties.
- Baccarat Professional Series: 98.94% on banker bets, 98.76% on player bets, and 85.6% on ties.
- Hi-Lo: 96%
- Pai Gow Poker: 97.15%
- Three Card Poker: 96.93%
- Let It Ride: 96.49 percent
- Craps: 83.33% – 98.64% RTP, plus six-times max odds
How to find the games
The Tropicana Online Casino list of non-traditional table games is almost the same as the one at Virgin Casino, except Tropicana also has Let It Ride.
Locating Tropicana’s selection of online table games is just as easy as well. Just look for the Tropicana Atlantic City logo near the top right of the screen. Then browsing through the seven menu choices to the right of it.
You should see one link labeled ‘Casino‘. Just click on that link and a list of all Tropicana casino games will appear below in super-sized title tile format.
The big tiles make it easy to find the games you’re looking for. Each of these tiles contains more info about the game and links to demos and the game itself.
Of course, all of Tropicana’s casino games are here as well, so finding the alternatives to the traditional table games requires a bit more searching. But once again, the big tiles make that easy.
Tropicana alternative table games
Now that you know how to locate the games, here’s a little something on how to play them:
You bet on which hand will end up closer to a value of nine, banker or player. You can also bet on a tie, although the big house edge on this bet suggests that’s not the best idea.
A dealer places two cards on each spot and players look to see which hand is closest to nine. Face cards 10s are worth nothing. Aces are worth one. All other cards have the face value. If a hand adds up to more than 10, only the second digit is used. Additional cards are dealt when the player hand is five or less.
The house charges a five percent commission on winning banker bets.
Baccarat Professional Series
NetEnt’s Baccarat Professional Series on Tropicana is a hyped up version of traditional baccarat. That means higher end graphics, video content, and an easier-to-use wagering interface.
Think of this as a high definition version of the game and despite the name you don’t have to be a professional to play.
Tropicana’s classic Hi-Lo game pits you against a dealer in an effort to guess if the next card turned over will be higher or lower than the one before.
Pai Gow Poker
Pai Gow Poker is a poker-based card game played with a 53-card deck, including one joker. The joker can be used as an ace or to complete straights and flushes.
You get seven cards with which to make the best five-card and two-card poker hand. The five-card hand must be your best.
The objective is to beat both the dealer’s five-card and two-card hands. Win one and you push.
Three Card Poker
Tropicana’s Three Card Poker is an online version of the same poker-based card game you can find at most casinos.
You get three cards and try to make a poker hand out of them. The true objective is to make a better hand than the dealer.
You place a bet and get three cards. You can then either fold or place another bet to continue. Then it’s showtime and you win if the dealer has less than queen-high or you have a better hand.
There are also two optional side bets available. Pairs plus pays if you’ve got a pair or better. Six-Card Bonus pays based on the value of the best five-card hand you can make combining both yours and the dealer’s cards.
Let It Ride
Tropicana’s Let It Ride is an online version of the Let It Ride game featured at land-based casinos.
Your goal is to make the best five-card poker hand using your three cards and two community cards.
You place three equal bets on the table. The dealer puts two community cards face down and hands you three cards.
You can fold immediately and take back two of the bets. If you continue, the dealer turns the first community card face up. At this point, you can fold and take back the final bet or continue.
If you continue the dealer turns the second community card face up and the value of your hand is determined. Payouts are based on the strength of your hand and start with a minimum of a pair of tens.
There’s also an optional Three-Card bonus side bet that pays based on the strength of your three cards alone.
Craps is often the loudest, most fun, and certainly most social games in any casino.
No one has figured out a way to capture the social aspects of the game and put them online. However, online Craps is available at Tropicana and it represents a great learning tool for the live game.
That’s because online craps can be played at your own pace, giving you the time to educate yourself about the game’s intricacies.
Tropicana Craps is also the best craps game you’ll find online thanks to a variety of favorable rules that include an NJ best six-times max odds on all Don’t Pass and Don’t Come bets.
Most online craps games only offer two or three-times max odds.
Regardless, the basics of craps are the same. Player’s bet on the pass line or don’t pass line and roll the dice. This come-out roll determines the point. Unless a seven or 11 winner or two, three, or 12 craps is rolled.
Once the point is set, players can make odds bets up to the game’s six-times maximum. These bets have no house edge.
Just roll the point before a seven to get paid.
Of course, you can also place bets on various propositions, numbers, and groups of numbers. Look for these bets and the payouts listed on the table.

Stop at the William Hill Sportsbook
As you can see, if celebrating Halloween is your thing, the Tropicana Atlantic City offers something for everyone. But if you’re a sports fan, too, here’s the news you’ve been waiting for. The Tropicana had been announcing for a long time that a sportsbook was in the works, but the opening date was mystery. Well, that day is here. The William Hill Sportsbook made its debut in the Tropicana North Tower on Thursday, Oct. 25.
I will be visiting the new sportsbook next week to see how it compares with the William Hill Sportsbook at Ocean Resort Casino and other Atlantic City sportsbooks. So look for my detailed review right here on NJ Gambling Websites soon. Meanwhile, check out Atlantic City’s newest sportsbook for yourself.
The plan for NJ sports betting at Tropicana Atlantic City began to take shape long before PASPA was repealed. However, it took until several months after the decision before those plans were finalized.
Billionaire Carl Icahn announced in April 2018 that Icahn Enterprises had entered an agreement to sell Tropicana Entertainment Inc. Gaming and Leisure Properties is taking over it’s real estate holdings. And Eldorado Resorts is taking over its gaming and hotel operations. The entire deal was worth approximately $1.85 billion.
Gaming and Leisure Properties is a Penn National Gaming real estate investment trust spinoff. Eldorado Resorts is considered a quickly-growing Reno, Nevada-based casino entertainment company. At the time, it owned and operated 20 casino resort properties in 10 states.
On Oct. 1, Eldorado finalized the sale and officially took over Tropicana AC.
William Hill and Eldorado
But the seeds have already been sewn for the future of sports betting at the Tropicana properties involved in the sale. That’s because William Hill US runs sports betting operations at Eldorado’s Nevada properties. It has done so since 2012.
In fact, William Hill operates full-service sportsbooks at Eldorado Resorts’ flagship Eldorado Hotel Casino, and it’s Silver Legacy and Circus Circus Reno Hotel & Casino in Reno.
In the April 2018 transaction, Tropicana Entertainment Inc. held onto it’s Aruba assets. However, the other seven casinos and resorts it owns and operates in six states, including Tropicana Atlantic City in NJ, will all go over to GLP and Eldorado.
William Hill and NJ sports betting
In the meantime, William Hill moved into the NJ sports betting market with full force.
It opened the Monmouth Park Sports Book by William Hill in Oceanport and the Ocean Resort sportsbook in Atlantic City.
However, it wouldn’t be long before Eldorado and William Hill formalized a plan to come together again at Tropicana AC.
In early September 2018, William Hill US and Eldorado Resorts announced the two had entered into a nationwide partnership. It’s a deal surrounding digital and land-based sports betting and online gaming in the US.
By this time, most considered William Hill US the leading sports betting company in the US. Plus, Eldorado had grown into a major casino group with 21 properties across 11 states. Once its Tropicana Entertainment Inc. deal closed, Eldorado’s numbers included 26 properties in 13 states.
The agreement will see William Hill becomes Eldorado’s exclusive digital and land-based sports betting services, and online gaming partner.
As a result, William Hill made plans to open sportsbooks in five Eldorado properties across three states almost immediately. Of course, this includes a sportsbook at Tropicana Atlantic City.
While nothing has been said yet, the deal could easily stretch into an online sportsbook for Tropicana.
Benefits for both William Hill and Tropicana
William Hill CEO Philip Bowcock said the partnership offers great benefits for both:
“Partnering with Eldorado gives William Hill access to one of the largest and most attractive casino footprints with 23 million customers across multiple states. This partnership provides extensive cross sell and profit growth opportunities to both parties. Together we are positioned to capture the evolving US opportunity – starting with land-based sports betting, and extending to digital sports betting and, in some states, online gaming.”
Eldorado Chairman and CEO Gary Carano said William Hill is already a partner Eldorado knows and trusts:
“Having worked with the company since 2012, we believe William Hill represents the gold standard in global sports betting and we are confident that our expanded partnership will be successful. We look forward to bringing the excitement of sports betting to customers across our growing platform of leading casino resorts, creating value for all shareholders.”
A Tropicana AC sportsbook
Tropicana Atlantic City has not released a date for the launch of sports betting operations. However, Tropicana Atlantic City GM Steve Callender has given some indication as to what it will entail:
“Tropicana Atlantic City is proud to partner with William Hill Race & Sports Book – America’s sports betting leader. We pride ourselves on creating unique and exciting experiences for our guests at Tropicana Atlantic City, and our sports betting offering will meet those expectations. A brand new venue is being created to host sports betting in the North Tower Casino, with kiosks located throughout the property. We offer several sports bars to watch all the games while enjoying your favorite food and drinks including A Dam Good Sports Bar, Hooters, Chickie’s & Pete’s and Ri Ra Irish Pub. We are excited to share more details about Tropicana Atlantic City’s sports book in the coming weeks.”
William Hill US CEO Joe Asher added it can’t wait to be part of such a great Atlantic City property. Plus, its plans include building a first-class sportsbook in the heart of the world-famous Boardwalk.
The overall William Hill-Eldorado deal will see Eldorado take control of a 20 percent stake in William Hill US operations. This includes all William Hill’s operations in various US states, including New Jersey.
The calendar says that spring is here, but with New Jersey being hit hard by yet another nor’easter, all the signs outside suggest otherwise.
Fortunately, TropicanaCasino.com and sister NJ online casino VirginCasino.com have both come up with the perfect promotion to remind you, whatever the weather, that spring really is here. So if you’re a registered player at either or both of these casinos, there’s no time like the present to spring into bonuses with a piece of their Spring Sharepot.
These promotions could not be more perfectly timed. If the weather isn’t conducive to spending more than minimal time outdoors, no problem at all. Wind, rain, and snow only give you more time to take part in these online promotions, knowing that the more you play, the bigger your share of the Sharepot.
Spring Sharepot at Tropicana NJ
This promotion at Tropicana NJ started Monday, March 19 and continues through 11:59 p.m. Thursday, March 22. So you still have time, but you will have to hurry.
How the Tropicana Spring Sharepot works
Every time any registered TropicanaCasino.com player wagers $10 on the site (on any game) between Monday, March 19 and Thursday, March 22, the casino will add 1 Trop Point to its steadily growing Sharepot, up to a maximum of 1 million Trop Points.
The prize pool is called a Sharepot because rather than one player taking it all or just a few players being rewarded, all active players share in the bounty.
No deposit is necessary, and the minimum amount of play required is so small, virtually any player can handle it. All you need to do is play any game of your choice on at least one qualifying day during the promotion and wager a minimum $50.
Difference between a Sharepot and a drawing
Tropicana NJ also holds many prize drawings in which players earn entries in the same manner. However, there is an important difference. In a random drawing, the top prizes may or may not go to the players who have earned the most entries. Your share of the Sharepot, however, is based directly on how much you play compared to everyone else.
In other words, the more you play, the bigger your piece of the pie. But only to a point, so don’t worry if you’re not a high roller. You will still get your fair share of the Sharepot.
Total number of Sharepot tickets you can earn
A $50 wager will entitle you to one Sharepot ticket. For each additional $50 you wager on any given day during the promotion, you will earn one additional ticket, up to a maximum of five tickets per day if you wager $250 or more.
The maximum number of tickets any one player can earn is therefore 20. That will entail playing all four days of the promotion and betting $250 each day, for a total of $1,000. However, the good news is that even if you come to the party late (for example, only play Wednesday and Thursday), you can still earn up to 10 tickets.
Awarding of prizes
On Friday, March 23, the casino will determine each player’s share of all the Trop Points in the Sharepot. The math is a complicated three-step process, but you don’t don’t have to worry about it since the casino will do all of the computations.
- Tropicana NJ will tally up the number of Sharepot tickets earned by each player.
- Your percentage or “share” of the Sharepot will then be computed by dividing the number of Sharepot tickets you have earned by the total number of tickets earned by all players combined.
- This percentage is then multiplied by the number of Trop Points in the Sharepot to get the number of Trop Points you receive.
For example, if you earn five tickets and all players combined earn 1,000 tickets, your percent of the Sharepot will be 10/1,000 or 1 percent. Then, let’s say that altogether the Sharepot holds 100,000 Trop Points. Your prize is 1 percent of 100,000 or 1,000 Trop Points.
As soon as the final Spring Sharepot results are in, all participating players will be notified how many Trop Points they have earned. However, it may take up to three business days for the points to be credited to your account.
Next step: Converting your Trop Points to Bonus Money
Once you receive your Trop Points, you will need to convert them to Bonus Money in order to use them. See the Tropicana NJ website for instructions or contact Customer Support if you need assistance.
Every 100 Trop Points is worth $1 in Bonus Money. So, continuing with the hypothetical example above, a player who earns 1,000 Trop Points would earn $10 in Bonus Money.
Wagering the bonus
Before you can withdraw any winnings from the bonus, you guessed it — you need to wager the bonus 1x. Any game is fine, and you have up to 30 days to complete the wagering. As soon as you do, any resulting winnings are yours, but not the bonus itself, which is not withdrawable at all.
Spring Sharepot at Virgin NJ
The Spring Sharepot at VirginCasino.com also started on Monday, March 19 and ends at 11:59 p.m. Thursday, March 20. However, unlike the Spring Sharepot at Tropicana Online, described above, where the size of the Sharepot is unknown, depending on how much players wager, the Spring Sharepot at Virgin Online is a fixed amount. It is preset at $7,000 in the form of Bonus Money.
Another important difference is that the maximum number of tickets any player can earn is only three. The casino has three specific challenges for you. Depending on how many you meet — 1, 2, or 3 —before the promotion period expires, you earn 1, 2, or 3 tickets towards the Sharepot, respectively.
The three challenges
These are the three challenges:
- Make a Net Deposit of at least $50 and wager it one time.
- Wager at least $50 using the Virgin NJ mobile app.
- Wager at least $50 each day for at least two days during the promotional period.
Most players should not find it hard at all to earn three Sharepot tickets. Your total wagering will come to $200. Even if you’re a small player, this is very feasible dividing your wagering equally ($100 per day) over the two remaining days of the promotion. In fact, unless you have already opted in to this promotion on your own Monday or Tuesday, you will need to play both Wednesday and Thursday in order to satisfy the third challenge.
Most players will earn the maximum number of three tickets by completing all three challenges, and you should do the same. Otherwise, your share of the Sharepot will be much smaller.
Determining your share of the Sharepot
On Friday, March 22, the casino will determine each qualifying player’s share of the $7,000 Spring Sharepot. This will entail applying the same formula described above for the Spring Sharepot at Tropicana NJ online casino. The only difference is that in this case the size of the total Sharepot has been preset at $7,000 and remains that amount irrespective of how much is wagered by the participating players.
Each player’s share is the number tickets that player earned divided by the number of tickets earned by all players combined, then that percentage multiplied by $7,000.
Thus, for example, if you earn three tickets and the total number of tickets earned by everyone participating is 600 (you can safely assume that the overwhelming majority of players will also have three tickets), your percentage of the pot is a half percent. You would then multiply $7,000 by .005, which would leave you with $35 Bonus Dollars. Not bad at all.
On Friday, March 23,VirginCasino.com will inform all qualifying players of the size of their bonus. However, allow for up to three business days for the money to be credited to your account.
Wagering the bonus
The terms and conditions for all Bonus Money awarded in this promotion are identical to those outlined above for the Bonus Money at Tropicana NJ (as well as for all other bonuses awarded by either casino).
Which NJ gambling website’s Spring Sharepot is better?
The Virgin Spring Sharepot promotion is the better of the two NJ gambling website promos for several reasons.
For starters, taking on challenges is fun, and completing them successfully gives you an extra sense of accomplishment, too. Here you only have three challenges, none of which you should find difficult.
Secondly, the Virgin online casino promotion offers more bang for the buck. In order to earn the maximum number of tickets and earn the biggest prize possible, you only have to wager $200, as compared to $1,000 for the Tropicana NJ promotion.
Thirdly, whereas the Tropicana Sharepot contains Trop Points, the Virgin Sharepot is already in the form of Bonus Money. Therefore, the intermediary step of having to convert points to Bonus Money (with a low conversion rate) is completely eliminated. That’s another way you are getting better value with the Virgin NJ offer.
Go ahead and claim your share of the Tropicana Sharepot if you plan to play there anyway over the next two days. However, if you have an account at both online casinos and only have time to play in one, the Virgin Sharepot is a better bet.
